Resilient Leadership

Participants will assess their personal resiliency and understand how resiliency impacts individual and team performance. Participants will be introduced to a Resiliency Model for effective leadership, understand the concepts and tools that foster resiliency and learn how to use those to positively impact leadership behavior. Each participant will development of a personal resiliency strategy. Program can be customized to fit a one or two day format. Program taught by Trigena H. Halley and Dr. Nicole Detling.

Dr. Nicole Detling

dr nicole deitling university of utah executive coachDr. Nicole Detling received her BA in psychology and sports science from Ohio Wesleyan University, her MS in sport psychology from Ithaca College, and her PhD in sport psychology from the University of Utah. She also completed an internship in sport psychology in the Sports Medicine Center at the Mayo Clinic. Nicole has been consulting with athletes and performers since 1998. Athletes, teams, and coaches of all ages, ability levels, and sports have sought Nicole’s services. She has also worked with performing artists and businesses. Nicole has given numerous international, national, and regional presentations at professional conferences and has been a guest speaker at several coaching clinics and business launches throughout the U.S. She is currently an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in the Exercise and Sport Sciences Department at the University of Utah. In addition, she is owner and Senior Consultant of HeadStrong Consulting. Nicole has co-authored book chapters as well as professional journal publications. She is a Certified Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.

Nicole served at the Coordinator of Sport Psychology Services as well as a provider of sport psychology services (mental skills coach) with US Speed Skating from 2008-2013 and is currently one of the sport psychology consultants / mental skills coaches with the US Ski and Snowboard Association (Freestyle Aerials) as well as several individual athletes from the youth through elite levels. She was a fully-credentialed member of Team USA in the Vancouver 2010 Olympics with US Speedskating and will be with the US Ski Team in Sochi 2014. In addition to working with several Olympians, she has worked with professional athletes in the PGA, MLB, MLS, and NHL as well as professional cyclists, mountain bikers, and rock climbers. She is also contracted with the University of Utah Athletics Department where she does both individual and team sessions with the U athletes.
Nicole is highly sought after for mental toughness training clinics for athletes, parents, coaches, and businesses as well as from the media, having appeared as a guest on The Colbert Report, NPR, NBC, KSL, Channel 2 News and many others. She has also been the keynote speaker at several conventions including commencement addresses at university graduation ceremonies.
She lives in the Salt Lake City area with her two sons, Logan and Elias.
